How to choose a stock photo license
A short checklist before you download — commercial ads, faces and brands, and when exclusivity is worth asking for.

License confusion usually shows up late — after the creative is approved and legal asks where the file came from. A two-minute checklist up front saves that scramble.
Ask three questions before you download
1. Will this run in paid advertising or only owned channels? 2. Does the image show a recognizable person, logo, or brand you do not control? 3. Do you need exclusivity so competitors cannot buy the same file?
If you answer “paid ads + real person + exclusivity,” you may need something beyond a standard royalty-free download. Say that out loud early.

NeuralStash’s default lane
Our default is royalty-free with commercial allowance. It covers most marketing sites, product UI, and sales collateral. Read the license terms before a large campaign so nobody is surprised.
When you need a different model
- News / documentary storytelling often needs editorial-only imagery (we are not a wire service)
- Exclusive buyouts are a custom conversation — contact us
- If a file looks trademark-heavy, pick another asset rather than “hoping it is fine”
